| CAAB Report 176 |

It rained and yet about 50 people came (we seriously believe that HAARP
is at work here as the heavens usually open for demonstrations at
Menwith Hill these days! - see details of HAARP below).  There was
an over-indulgence of police presence but no police horses this
time.  Three police officers on bikes weaved their way ahead
and around the demonstrators.   Each entrance to the base
was blocked by serried ranks of police officers from North
Yorkshire police,  while inside the base the Ministry of Defence
Police Agency (MDPA) patrolled on American owned 'quad bikes' and in cars
        and vans.

Before the demonstration started, one person was 'stopped and
searched' under the Terrorism Act 2000 while walking on the public
footpath.  This was raised with Dave Williams (Liaison police
officer) who said that he would discuss this
          at the post demonstration police briefing;
yet another example of an abuse of this law.

Steve Hill (www.daftasadrum.co.uk) started off the
demonstrataion by magnificently facilitating a drumming workshop (in the
rain). He was joined by Rythmns of Resistance (Sheffield and
Manchester) who also warmed the demonstrators with their invigorating
samba music throughout the day. Louisa (Veggies of Yorkshire)
supplied the food (£1 for a delicious vegan vegetable curry and hot
fruit salad) and Bruce Gagnon (Cordinator of the Global Network Against
Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space) was the guest speaker this year.

Bruce had spent the week talking at meetings round the UK (organised by
Yorkshire CND).  He is an American who was at one time a member of
the US Air Force.  He got out of the USAF because of the
Vietnam war.    He spends two weeks of every month
travelling the US talking about the issue around the US domination of
space for military and commercial gains.

What Bruce had to say was frightening, alarming and deeply depressing.
However he urged us all to 'hold hands' and keep going because it is
only by working together that we can overcome the forward march of the
military industrial complex.  We have to be persistent and not give
        up.

Lindis Percy and Dave Webb led a walk round the base and stopped at
various entrances to inform people about the base and its crucial role
(with Fylingdales) in the AMD system.

CAAB reflects that the demonstrations and meetings get smaller as the
pattern of the peaks and troughs of the peace movement once again
happens.  However new people were there.  We urge as many
people as possible to come to these demonstrations as it sends a
message to those in 'authority' that today....there are people who are
deeply opposed to what is being done by the US and UK governments.
We must demand our rights and civil liberties.

        PLEASE NOTE:

Re HAAP - High-frequency Active Aural Research Program

See: article on globalresearch.ca/articles/ In the US, the technology is being perfected under the High-frequency Active Aural Research Program (HAARP) as part of the ("Star Wars") Strategic Defence Initiative (SDI). Recent scientific evidence suggests that HAARP is fully operational and has the ability of potentially triggering floods, droughts, hurricanes and earthquakes. HAARP is a mass destructive weapon - not part of any negotiations......While there is no concrete evidence of HAARP having been used, scientific findings suggest that it is at present fully operational. What this means is that HAARP could potentially be applied by the US military to selectively modify the climate of an 'unfriendly nation' or 'rogue state' with a view to destabilizing its national economy. | ||
